Our November Open Research Forum is led by Fi Donovan of De Montfort University. We will be learning from Fi more about the Leicestershire University Partnership, an partnership formed by the three universities of Leicestershire in conjunction with Leicester and Leicestershire’s local governments. Fi is the Head of Engagement & Partnerships and her institution’s lead for the education strand of the local Universities Partnership.

Such local partnerships are a central element in the strategy of the Civic Universities Network, a national organisation founded in response to the explorations of the Civic University Commission (2018-9). The focus of the first Civic University Commission report was a subject close to the heart of LVC’s aims: the reigniting adult education in the UK.

This Forum should also be of interest to LVC members given that one of LVC’s key objects is to benefit society as a whole and its diverse communities through cooperation and civic participation. We’re looking forward to learning more about what the Universities Partnership can do to work promote adult education in the light of the findings of Civic University Commission and how LVC can play a role in this.
