A CPD Course for Counsellors about working with LGBT clients.
About this workshop
The workshop aims to cover a wide range of aspects in relation to working with LGBT clients and will cover aspects such as:
Acronym and Umbrella Term encompassing all who identify as non-heterosexual and/or non-cisgender (Stonewall)
LGBT and mental health statistics
LGBT Demographic Specific Mental Health statistics including self-harm, suicidal thoughts and attempts at life
Sexuality vs Gender
Why is Society Anti LGBT?
LGBT Rights / Human Rights Act / Equality Act / The Gender Recognition Act
Hate Crime
Legal Issues Impacting Trans People
Transactual- The Law
Working with LGBT Clients in Counselling Setting

How to work Inclusively with the LGBT Community
Workshop duration and location
This workshop will last three hours between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 28 May. It will take place at the Adult Education College, 54 Belvoir Street, Leicester LE1 6QL.
Please note that this course needs a minimum number of 10 people to run.
About the facilitator: Rosie Craven (She/Her) MBACP
Rosie completed her training as an Integrative Counsellor at The University of Leicester with a focus on Psychodynamic and Person Centred Therapeutic Approaches. Rosie has since specialised as an Integrative LGBT Counsellor at The Leicester LGBT Centre, where she has worked for 5 years. In this time Rosie has worked with many sexualities and gender identities that have given her the knowledge, passion and experience to share with other practitioners and ultimately helping to bring positive psychological intervention for the LGBT+ Community.
Rosie has also worked as a youth worker, pride volunteer and assistant training facilitator for The Leicester LGBT Centre
