About the December Forum
Presented by Deirdre O’Sullivan (Archaeology, University of Leicester)

In the 21st century the phrase ‘our urban heritage’ invites questions at many levels, not just about who is ‘our’ and what is ‘heritage’ but also about the role of expert voices, community groups and individuals in determining what is valued and conserved for the future – and what is not.
This seminar will explore the values that are often linked to medieval buildings and below-ground archaeology in urban stories, and what this holds for the future of our townscapes, drawing principally on Leicester and Coventry, but with some broader analogies.
