DESCRIPTION:Venue: Leicester Adult Education College\, Belvoir Street  \n\n\n\nThis taster session will introduce you to some of the content and aims for our ‘Learning to be a Facilitator‘ course.   This is a five week course that will be delivered between 30 September and 4 November. You can find an overview of the course and details of the course here. Please read this information before you sign up to this taster session. \n\n\n\nThe aim of the taster session is to give you a flavour of the delivery format\, offer you the opportunity to ask more detailed questions\, introduce you to to the staff leading the sessions\, and enable you to meet other potential participants.   \n\n\n\nClick here to reserve a place for this taster session. \n\n\n\nFormat for the session: \n\n\n\n6.00 – 6.10  Welcome and introductions \n\n\n\n6.10 – 7.15  Learn more about the course and practice some of the learning techniques used during the session. Please feel free to ask questions as we go along.   \n\n\n\n7.15 – 7.30 Any further questions plus support for filling in the course application form. \n\n\n\nTea and coffee will be provided during the session. \n\n\n\nThe taster session is open to those who have been already been offered a place on the ‘Learning to be a Facilitator’ course as well as those who would like to find out more before applying. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the closing date for applications for the five week course is 17 September.

SUMMARY:Learning to be a Facilitator
DESCRIPTION:A five week course in facilitation skills and concepts \n\n\n\nAbout the course\n\n\n\n\nThe ‘Learning to be a Facilitator Course’ is an exploration into how we create learning spaces which encourage participation and contributions from everyone in the room.  It will cover essential facilitator skills and theory and will provide opportunities for experiential practice and personal reflection.  \n\n\n\n\nThe five sessions will explore psychological health and psychological safety in voluntary and paid workplaces as a working theme. Using techniques of peer support and collaborative learning\, the sessions will model the very conditions that the course will explore: safety in working and learning together.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course is part of the Human Factor at Work Project which is outlined in infographic that is part of the information pack. It is delivered by Leicester Vaughan College staff who coordinate the project in addition to some guest facilitators to some of the sessions. \n\n\n\nThere is a taster session for this course on 10 September. The course will be free to all participants. \n\n\n\nPlease note that future versions of the course may not be free. \n\n\n\nVenue \n\n\n\nThis is an in-person course. It will be held at Leicester Adult Education College\, 54 Belvoir Street\, Leicester\, LE1 6QL.  \n\n\n\nYou will be interested in this course if you… \n\n\n\n*Want to develop a facilitation practice which is grounded in theory and lived experience; \n\n\n\n*Wish to develop your skillset\, knowledge and approach to the workplace; \n\n\n\n*Have an interest or curiosity in workplace psychology and what helps us to thrive at work; \n\n\n\n*Want to help others in developing their facilitation techniques and peer support in working environments; \n\n\n\n*Enjoy challenging yourself and hearing different perspectives; \n\n\n\n*Value collaborative\, peer-led learning. \n\n\n\nWhat skills and knowledge will you develop? \n\n\n\nYou will develop a wide range of skills such as: hosting and welcoming participants; active listening; planning and preparation for facilitation; working with conflict or differences of opinion; co-facilitating and collaborating; and fostering psychological safety in working contexts.   \n\n\n\nDuring the course you will learn what is psychological health and psychological safety and why these are important for facilitators.  You will learn about the benefits of psychological health and psychological safety for the individual\, the team and the organisation.
